Meet the Redeemer

Before you get too far in the Redemption stories, let me ask, have you met the Redeemer Himself?

What does it take to go to Heaven?

  • Obey 10 commandments?
  • Give to charity?
  • Be a good person?
  • Prayers?
  • Baptism?
  • Born of Christian parents?
  • Regular church attendance?

The Bible tells us in Romans 3:23 that All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.

Because we’ve sinned, we’re separated from God and as a result deserve death.

Roman’s 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

But there’s good news. Jesus doesn’t leave us to die in our sin.

Romans 5: 8 “but God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

2 Corinthians 5:21 “For our sake He made Him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God.”

Eternal life and a relationship with God through Jesus isn’t something we can earn. It is a gift we must receive.

Ephesians 2:8-9 says It is by grace you have been saved, through faith – and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God – not by works, so that no one can boast.

So what does it take to go to Heaven?

  • Obey 10 commandments?
  • Give to charity?
  • Be a good person?
  • Prayers?
  • Baptism?
  • Born of Christian parents?
  • Regular church attendance?

None of these can save you. You can do nothing to earn eternal life. It is faith in the Lord Jesus Christ alone that can save you.

Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ alone can save you
